The major thriller espionage feature film “A Most Wanted Man – Marionette” is set to begin shooting on September 19th in Hamburg, Germany. The production is casting local actors and numerous extras to work on the film, which is based on the novel “A Most Wanted Man” by British author John le Carré. The novel is loosely based on the true War on Terror story of Murat Kurnaz. Especially needed by the extras casting director is a large group of male Turks and Arabs. However, many different types and ages, any ethnicity, will be needed throughout filming which will run from September 19th through November 23, 2012. Casting for the film’s lead and supporting roles have taken place in London and Berlin.

“A Most Wanted Man – Marionette” centers on a half-Russian, half-Czech immigrant who comes to Germany scarred and starved, looking to find his father’s lost fortune. His past is mysterious, his motives are suspect, and eventually his pursuits get the attentions of a British banker and a young female lawyer, who both try to help them in their own way, and who end up forming a strange love triangle in the process. There’s no time for romance, however, as the man’s arrival also gets the attention of a group of spies from three different nations, and soon all of the players converge in ways that are likely steeped in intrigue and double crossings.

The production has assembled an outstanding international cast that includes Russian actor Grigori Dobrygin in the starring role of Issa. Dobrygin won Best Actor Award at the International Film Festival for “How I Ended This Summer”. Screen Actors Guild Award nominee Rachel McAdams is playing the role of Annabel Richter, an activist lawyer; two-time Academy Award nominee Willem Dafoe plays private British banker Tommy Brue; Academy Award winner Philip Seymour Hoffman has joined the cast as German Spy Günther Bachmann; and Golden Globe Award nominee Robin Wright plays Erna Frey, Bachmann’s long-standing workmate and assistant.

Dutch filmmaker Anton Corbijn will direct “A Most Wanted Man – Marionette” from an adapted screenplay written by Australian scribe Andrew Bovell. Corbijn is also an accomplished and highly respected still photographer and music video director. He has won two British Independent Film Awards, been nominated for a BAFTA Award and a Grammy Award, among many other wins and nominations. Some of the musicians Corbijn has directed music videos for are U2, Coldplay, Depeche Mode, Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bryan Adams, Johnny Cash, Nirvana, and Naomi Campbell.

Story:

“A Most Wanted Man” takes place in present-day Hamburg, Germany. A mysterious half-Chechen, half-Russian man named Issa (Grigoriy Dobrygin), brutally scarred from torture, surfaces in the city’s Islamic community, on the run and desperate for help. He seeks to recover his late Russian father’s fortune and wants to donate a fortune to Muslim organizations. He soon connects with a conflicted British private banker named Brue (Willem Dafoe) and a young female activist lawyer named Annabel (Rachel McAdams) fiercely determined to protect the rights of persecuted émigrés. Nothing about the young man seems to add up: is he a victim, a thief, or worse yet, an extremist intent on destruction? All the while, they are watched by the brilliant, roguish chief of a covert German spy unit (Philip Seymour Hoffman) and his assistant (Robin Wright), who fight to put together the pieces as the clock ticks.
