Big Indie Pictures in association with Killer Films is going into production next week on the true story feature film “The Last of Robin Hood”. Filming is taking place in Atlanta, GA through March, 2013. Principal actor casting directors in Los Angeles, New York, and Atlanta are holding auditions for supporting and day player roles. Extras, photo-doubles, and stand-ins are being cast in Atlanta throughout the shoot.
“The Last of Robin Hood” is based on Australian actor Errol Flynn’s last days before he died of a heart attack at age 50, and his relationship with seventeen year-old actress Beverly Aadland. Beverly was a girl allegedly seduced by Flynn when she was only 15 after the two met at Hollywood Professional School. Flynn cast her in his final film, Cuban Rebel Girls. Aadland stated that he planned to marry her and move to their new house in Jamaica, but during a trip together to Vancouver, British Columbia, he died of a heart attack. Beverly’s stage mother Florence Aadland wanted to be a star herself but ended up living vicariously through her daughter.
The terrific cast includes three-time Young Artist Awards winner Dakota Fanning in the role of Beverly Aadland; Academy Award winner Kevin Kline is portraying the freewheeling, hedonistic actor Errol Flynn; and Academy Award winner Susan Sarandon is playing Beverly’s mother Florence Aadland. Fanning recently completed shooting the feature film “Effie” playing the title role of Euphemia ‘Effie’ Gray. Effie was the naturally outgoing and flirtatious teenage bride of John Ruskin, the leading English art critic of the Victorian era.
Independent Spirit Award winning filmmakers Richard Glatzer and Wash Westmoreland will direct “The Last of Robin Hood” from a screenplay that they wrote themselves. Glatzer and Westmoreland most recently produced “Pedro,” a film about Pedro Zamora, a Cuban-American AIDS educator and television personality. The two partners came into mainstream prominence with the GayVN Award winning film “The Fluffer,” about obsession and power relations within the adult video industry. They also wrote and directed the Sony Pictures Classics feature film “Quinceañera,” which follows the lives of two young Mexican American cousins who become estranged from their families.
Two-time Primetime Emmy Award nominee Declan Baldwin will produce for Big Indie Pictures. Two-time Primetime Emmy Award nominees Pamela Koffler and Christine Vachon are producing for Killer Films. In addition to co-writing and co-directing, Wash Westmoreland will also serve as producer. Maggie Malina will executive produce. Malina also was executive producer on the Richard Glatzer and Wash Westmoreland produced film “Pedro”.
