Killing Kennedy Casting Call

Scott Free Television and 1122 Pictures are set to begin production on the factual drama telefilm “Killing Kennedy” for National Geographic Channel. Filming will take place in the Richmond, VA area beginning June 11th. The local casting director has issued a casting call for everything from babies and toddlers, to adults and senior citizens. All types of any ethnicity can be considered. These are fully paid positions and there is no prior experience required to be cast in the film.

“Killing Kennedy” is the next in a series of original movies by National Geographic Channel about famous assassinations, based on books by Fox News host Bill O’Reilly. “Killing Lincoln,” which was also filmed in the Richmond area, was the first in the series and was the most watched program in the channel’s history. “Killing Kennedy” carries forward the new “factual drama” medium that National Geographic is publicizing as a cross between documentary and drama, implementing high scripted production value and appeal without compromising facts and historical credibility. The movie is timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Kennedy assassination.

This two-hour factual drama begins in 1959 and follows the paths of John F. Kennedy who was a member of one of the United States’ most wealthy and powerful families, and his assassin Lee Harvey Oswald who was a disillusioned former Marine and Marxist — until they collide in Dallas four years later. The story begins in 1959 when JFK announces his presidential candidacy, and Oswald is renouncing his U.S. citizenship at the U.S. embassy in Moscow. The actions of these opposing but equally ambitious men start them on a track that will soon lead to Kennedy’s assassination and Oswald’s subsequent death.

Starring in “Killing Kennedy” is five-time Golden Globe Award nominee Rob Lowe playing the lead role of John F. Kennedy. Lowe recently starred in the HBO film “Behind the Candelabra”. Two-time People’s Choice Awards nominee Ginnifer Goodwin has been cast in the role of Jacqueline Kennedy. Goodwin has been playing the starring role as Mary Margaret Blanchard/Snow White on ABC’s “Once Upon a Time”. Daytime Emmy Award nominee Michelle Trachtenberg is playing the role of Marina Oswald, the widow of Lee Harvey Oswald. This will be Trachtenberg’s first Russian-speaking role. The role of Lee Harvey Oswald is still being cast and should be announced very soon, according to a network spokeswoman.

Filmmaker Nelson McCormick will direct “Killing Kennedy” from a teleplay written by Independent Spirit Awards nominated scribe Kelly Masterson, based on books written by Bill O’Reilly. Three-time Academy Award nominee Ridley Scott is producing under the banner of his TV production company Scott Free Television. Primetime Emmy Award nominee David Zucker will also produce along with Mary Lisio of Scott Free. Bill O’Reilly and Kelly Masterson will co-produce. Six-time Primetime Emmy Award nominee Teri Weinberg is executive producing.
