The hit FX Network Golden Globe Nominated horror-drama series American Horror Story has been renewed for a second season and the award winning casting team is holding auditions in Los Angeles. The show’s format is anthology based, whereas the story, characters, and location for each season is different. The show’s guest stars and extras are being cast throughout the season, which began shooting July 17, 2012. The second season of “American Horror Story” takes place in an East Coast asylum for the criminally insane, although filming takes place in Los Angeles.

Season 2 is centered around two-time Academy Award winner Jessica Lange’s new character, which is being described as the opposite of the Constance character Lange played in season 1. Season 2 of “American Horror Story” is set on the East Coast at an institution for the criminally insane that is run by Jessica Lange’s character. Zachary Quinto, who played the role of Chad in the first season, is playing one of the male leads. Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, and Lily Rabe have returned to play new roles also. “The Voice” coach Adam Levine has joined the cast and will play half of a couple called “The Lovers”. Mark Consuelos has been cast to play an insane man named Spivey. Joseph Fiennes plays a Monsignor. James Cromwell portrays Dr. Arthur Arden. Adam Levine plays Leo.

After an exhaustive search that spanned multiple continents, French actress Lizzie Brocheré won the most pivotal new series regular role on “American Horror Story” Season 2. Lizzie Brocheré plays a fierce, ferocious, extremely sexual and dangerous wild-child sexpot, the character — billed as a nemesis for Jessica Lange — was likened to Angelina Jolie in Girl, Interrupted. Academy Award nominee Chloe Sevigny has also joined the cast as a character named Shelly the Nymphomaniac.

Ryan Murphy and Dante Di Loreto are executive producing for Ryan Murphy Productions. Murphy’s good friend and co-creator of “American Horror Story”, Brad Falchuk, is also executive producing along with former actress and writer Jennifer Salt, and three-time primetime Emmy Award nominee James Wong.

Story:

“American Horror Story: Asylum” will center around an east coast mental asylum, and will not be another ghost story. It is said that the story will be very equally terrifying, but with very different vibe. Just as the house in the first season had a paramagnetic grip like a battery, with negative energy that feeds on trauma and draws things to it, season two involves the energy that’s often found in prisons or asylums. Season two of “American Horror Story” is set on the East Coast at an institution for the criminally insane that is run by Jessica Lange’s character.
