“Careful What You Wish For” is an edgy and sexy thriller that centers on self-conscious virgin Asheville high school student Doug Martin who gets more than he bargained for when he starts a torrid affair with Lana Harper – the gorgeous young, lonely wife of wealthy Charlotte investment banker Elliott Harper, who recently rents the upscale house next door to his parents vacation cabin on Lake Lure. After Elliot is found dead on his burned out boat, it is initially ruled an accident. But when it is discovered that he died of head trauma before getting burned, along with the existence of a $10 million life insurance policy, it rocks the sleepy vacation community. Although everyone in town has theories about the murder, Doug becomes under the suspicion of Allied Trust rookie insurance investigator Angie Alvarez, with only family friend and local Sheriff “Big Jack” to help prove his innocence. To make matters worse, Doug did repairs on Elliots boat that exploded, and Lana begins setting him up as a being a stalker who broke in, raped her, and killed her husband.
