Entrepreneur and Better Black TV CEO, Percy Miller has teamed up with Veda Burton of Rage Entertainment and Karla Huff of Dream Talent Management to create a program that has taken some of the most talented kids from the streets of Los Angeles to the red carpet of Hollywood.
Their mission is to help save lives by taking the guns out of the hands of inner city youth and replacing those guns with video cameras. With those cameras the youth will educate, motivate and provide a positive alternative by showing kids how to capture their own futures. The program exposes a positive lifestyle through vision by saying “NO” to violence, drugs, teenage pregnancy, and crime, and saying “YES” to family values, education, and breaking negative cycles.
The program presents entrepreneurial opportunities through diverse aspects of the performing arts and gives youth a variety of options to be in front of the camera (singing, acting, dancing, etc.) as well as behind the scenes (filming, editing, producing). The coordinators want youth to put down the guns and pick up a camera. It’s time for everyone to get involved, take responsibility and preserve the future for our kids.
“I was able to change my life by having someone believe in me,” said P. Miller. “We are three hardworking parents that just want to see all kids have a future. For us, this is not about making money, it’s about doing our part and helping these kids fulfill their dreams. We have a diverse group of kids that are doing all the right things. They could easily be gangbanging, committing crimes, taking or selling drugs. These young people have a purpose.
“The sole requirement for the program is that you need to be a good student, understand the importance of education and know how to stay focused.”
